ITF-EDV Fröschl GmbH cooperates with Vodafone for M2M communications networking of intelligent metering systems.
The ITF-EDV Fröschl GmbH, a subsidiary of the Sagemcom Group, integrates the M2M communication platform of Vodafone in its BSI compliant solution for the Smart Meter Administration.
In the context of the forthcoming introduction of Smart Meters Gateways, utilities are faced with new logistical challenges, such as the processes for commissioning. The cooperation with Vodafone enables a supplement to the ITF-EDV Fröschl GmbH solution for smart metering by a powerful and secure M2M communication platform and supports thereby the introduction. The M2M communication platform of Vodafone provides a connection of the Smart Meter Gateway mobile standards GPRS, UMTS and LTE and is integrated with the smart metering system administration software of ITF-EDV Fröschl GmbH by automated API interfaces.
For utilities as a result of an integrated IP communication substantial operational advantages arise. This is ensured by a smooth installation phase (connection / disconnection / test) and an active interference management through real-time IP monitoring. Increased effort by utility companies, for example through on-site service calls will be significantly reduced and time consuming error analysis in the smart meter system as a whole can be reduced.
For ITF-EDV Fröschl the integration of M2M communications and software is an important contribution to make to the legally required smart meter rollout for the utilities as cost-effectively as possible.
