SMART METER GATEWAY (SMGw) FOR SMART METERING IN GERMANY

The Siconia® SMARTY IQ-LTE from Sagemcom Dr. Neuhaus GmbH is a smart meter gateway (SMGW) for legally compliant smart metering in Germany.

This gateway is the central communication unit in a smart metering system that receives, stores, prepares and transmits metering data for authorized market participants from different kinds of meters. The meters (electricity, gas, water, heat) can be connected wired (RS485) or wireless via M-Bus to the gateway. End customers of the energy suppliers can easily access their metering data via a local interface.

For maximum security, an integrated security module according to the Common Criteria protection profile provides the gateway with the required cryptographic functions. The highly secure WAN communication between the participants of the smart meter gateway infrastructure is ensured via the smart meter - public key infrastructure (PKI).

The Siconia® SMARTY IQ-LTE is designed to meet the requirements of a mass rollout in Germany. For local installation, only the plug connections have to be established. The connection to the control centre is then is made automatically.
